Summer catch-up

I am SO bad at this whole blogging thing..I haven't posted anything all summer.  I don't really have any excuses either, mostly I just never got around to it.  Plus, I am aweful at taking pictures, I never have my camera with me.  And for some reason I don't feel like I can post anything unless I have pictures to go along with it.  Oh well, here is my redemption.  I am going to try to get you up to speed on all that we did this summer through a few picture collages.

This first one I call "Penny is cute and she loves to eat":

This next one I call "Penny is cute, especially with pigtails":

I call this one "Penny is cute even when she just woke up":

This one is from our trip to Lagoon.  It was so much fun!  Wendy, Emily and I rode the Skycoaster and Penny rode her first ride and she loved it.  We had a blast watching her ride.  The video is below as well as a collage that I call "Penny is cute and she loves Bulgy the Whale":

On labor day weekend my sisters, my mom and my niece and nephews came up to participate in the 5k Man Vs. Mud Mud Run.  It was SO much FUN!!!  Our team name was the Milam Mob and we made t-shirts that said "The Mudsisters" for the girls and "The Mudfather" for the boys (A play on the Godfather logo).  They sure weren't kidding when they said you will get muddy,  there was no way to avoid it.  We had to wade through a mud river, army crawl through mud, "Big Balls" it across another river, walk through a thick mud pit, and end it all by going down a huge slide into a giant mud pit (to name a few things).  It was a blast!!  We will definately be doing this again next year.  I call this collage "Penny is cute in her Mudsisters shirt":

Well, those are the highlights of the summer.  We didn't do very many things that we don't normally do, but we still had a good summer.  Penny is cute and growing up so fast (she has eight teeth!) and is doing great.  I will try to be better at taking pictures and updating this blog more often.

Visit with Meema

My mom is so great!!  She is willing to drive all the way up to Logan to babysit for us when we need her.  I am so thankful to have a mother who is so willing and happy to do this for us (and thank you Barbara and Bruce for watching her every week).  Penny loves seeing her Meema and it's great to be able to see them together.  My mom came up last week for us and she not only babysat, but she helped me do my yard work as I have found this nearly impossible with a six month old.  In return I helped her do a little of her yard work a couple of days later when we were in Salt Lake for a job interview.  Thanks mom, love ya!

Here is Penny-Tallu looking adorable, as usual.

Penny has her second tooth!  Meema helped take this one, so it's a little better than the picture I posted before.  Her smile looks so different with those two little teeth sticking out...so cute!

While Brad was at his interview Taylor, Tallu and I walked over to temple square, it was a beautiful day and both girls were so good!!

Two of the best lookin' girls in the Milam family.

At the Wheelwright Cabin

Every year Brad's family has a Family reunion up at the family cabin in Boise. Due to a number of circumstances, Brad and I were the only ones who were able to make it up there this year.  So it wasn't much of a reunion, but it was a really nice get-away for us as a family.  I think this is the first family vacation that we've had together since Penny was born. Here are just a few pictures that I took of our trip up there.  We had a lot of fun and we're looking forward to going up there again next year.

Here's Penny first thing in the morning.  She was such a good girl during this trip, she slept through the night without any problems, despite it being a lot cooler than she's used to.

The dogs absolutely LOVE the cabin!!  It is a dog's paradise.  They can run around the mountains without a leash, there are tons of smells and things to see, they get to go on a whole bunch of fun hikes, there are sticks galore and when it's warm enough they even get to go swimming.

Penny thought it was so fun that she could stand on the stairs and look down at me.  She is such a big girl, Brad's really only just keeping her balance for her, she's basically standing by herself.

Here's the new car.  We are so glad that we were able to get this car before this trip.  There is no way we would have been able to drive 5 hours with Penny and both of the dogs in the back seat of Brad's Civic.  Brad thought that the car looked like a commercial sitting in the woods like this, so we took a picture.

My girls and boy in front of the cabin.

Penny fell asleep about 5 minutes into our hike.  It's exhausting being carried around like that.

Luckily she was able to wake up long enough for us to take a nice family picture.  She's not looking at the camera, but at least we got a little smile.
